Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Tree Climber to join our team at Oceanview Landscape. As a key member of our crew, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently climbing trees to perform various tasks, including pruning, removal, and inspection.

Key Responsibilities
  • Tree Pruning: Climbing trees to selectively remove branches for aesthetic purposes, to promote tree health, or to ensure safety by eliminating dead or hazardous limbs.
  • Tree Removal: Climbing trees to safely dismantle and remove trees that are diseased, damaged, or pose a risk to property or safety.
  • Tree Inspection: Climbing trees to assess their health, and identify signs of disease, pests, or structural weaknesses that may require intervention.
  • Climbing Technique: Developing and maintaining proficiency in climbing techniques and safety procedures, including the proper use of ropes, harnesses, and other climbing equipment.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Inspecting, maintaining, and repairing climbing equipment, such as ropes, harnesses, and climbing spikes, to ensure safe and effective operation.
  • Team Collaboration: Working closely with other members of the tree care team, such as ground crew and supervisors, to coordinate tasks and ensure efficient and safe operations.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhering to safety protocols and regulations, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), to minimize the risk of accidents or injuries while climbing and performing tree care tasks.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Landscaping Experience: Previous experience in landscaping or a related field is required.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in tree pruning, removal, and inspection techniques and all associated equipment; chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts.
  • Knowledge of Tree Care: Knowledge of tree care practices and principles is essential.
  • Clean Driver's License: A clean NYS driver's license is required.
  • Soft Skills: Eagerness to learn and problem-solve, hands-on mentality, excellent communication skills, ability to prioritize and work efficiently in a high-energy environment, confidence, enthusiasm, respect, and a positive attitude.
