This position involves working with adult and elderly patients in their residences across various regions.
While prior experience in home care as a Speech Language Pathologist is advantageous, it is not mandatory.
As a Speech Language Pathologist in home care, you will play a vital role in a collaborative healthcare team dedicated to delivering rehabilitative services and skilled nursing care, enabling clients to receive essential medical support in the comfort of their homes.
Key Responsibilities of the Speech Language Pathologist:
- Conduct home visits to clients within assigned geographic areas.
- Perform comprehensive assessments to evaluate, diagnose, and implement therapeutic strategies for clients facing challenges with speech, language, communication, or swallowing.
- Create individualized treatment plans based on assessments, physician directives, and established goals.
- Regularly review and update the speech therapy care plan, collaborating with BAYADA clinicians in the multidisciplinary care approach as necessary.
- Provide education and guidance to patients, family members, or other representatives regarding rehabilitative care and activities that support the client's health, safety, and independence.
- Maintain accurate documentation of observations, interventions, and evaluations related to patient care management using advanced technology.
Qualifications for the Speech Language Pathologist:
- A valid license as a Speech Language Pathologist in North Carolina.
- Certification of clinical competence in speech from the American Speech and Hearing Association, or;
- Equivalent educational qualifications as evidenced by transcripts or diplomas, along with relevant work experience, and be preparing for the certification examination from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, or;
- Completion of necessary educational and work experience requirements, as shown by transcripts or diplomas, while accumulating supervised work experience for certification.
- Proficient computer skills; experience with electronic medical records (EMR) is preferred.
