The Lease Accounting Analyst plays a crucial role in managing and analyzing occupancy expenses for the organization. This position involves budgeting, forecasting, and reporting on costs associated with leased properties.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct monthly analysis and reporting of occupancy expenses
- Develop and maintain leasing schedules in accordance with GAAP, including lease liabilities and right-of-use assets
- Prepare month-end and quarter-end accruals through comprehensive account analysis
- Execute monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Provide monthly budget versus actual reporting, including variance analysis for management review
- Assist in the monthly forecasting process to ensure management has the latest financial projections
- Generate recurring monthly reports and perform ad hoc analyses as needed
- Facilitate the annual occupancy budget process
- Work closely with the budgeting team and other stakeholders to establish and validate budget assumptions
- Create and maintain budget templates, adapting them based on trends and organizational needs
- Prepare quarterly and annual audit documentation, serving as the primary liaison with internal and external auditors for relevant areas
- Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley regulations within the scope of responsibilities
- Identify and recommend improvements to existing processes
- Support the daily functions of the Lease Accounting department
- Bachelor's degree in Business or a related discipline
- 1-2 years of relevant experience
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and analytical capabilities
- Proficient in Excel with advanced skills
- Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision
- Experience in the commercial real estate sector or a related field
