POSITION STATUS: Full-time - Non-Exempt, hourly

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The role of the Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) at LOUi Consulting Group, Inc. (LCGI) involves delivering specialized speech-language services to students as part of their Individual Education Program (IEP) and 504/Hospital Homebound plans within the Dekalb County School District (DCSD).

FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:

The SLP is responsible for assessing, identifying, and providing intervention services to students who qualify for speech-language support, adhering to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. This includes maintaining precise documentation, participating in and leading student meetings such as IEP and eligibility discussions, and collaborating with educators and families to achieve the objectives of the speech program. The SLP must hold certification from the GAPSC and the State Licensure Board, ensuring they stay updated with the latest research and evidence-based methodologies.

Responsibilities encompass conducting evaluations, delivering therapy, developing training materials, attending relevant meetings, gathering data, documenting attendance, and offering guidance to staff as necessary within the DCSD framework.


PRIMARY DUTIES:

  1. Commit to a full-time schedule of forty (40) hours per week, excluding a 30-minute lunch break, or as directed by the DCSD Coordinator of Speech-Language and Related Services;
  2. Conduct evaluations for speech, occupational, and/or physical therapy in line with DCSD protocols;
  3. Deliver therapy services through individual, small group, in-class, and community models as specified in students' IEPs and 504 plans;
  4. Provide interventions aligned with IEP goals and objectives;
  5. Maintain a daily log of services rendered and hours worked;
  6. Ensure proper management of student files, which remain the property of DCSD.

QUALIFICATIONS:


Education:

Each Speech-Language Pathologist must:

  • Possess a valid Georgia license and complete the Praxis II exam within three (3) months of employment;
  • Hold a current Georgia State teaching certification in speech-language pathology or apply for one within the first three (3) months of employment;
  • Initiate the process for obtaining a permanent license prior to the expiration of the temporary license, starting three (3) months before the expiration date.

Additional Requirements:

  • Each Speech-Language Pathologist shall:
  • Maintain a valid Georgia license;
  • Complete the Praxis II exam within three (3) months of employment;
  • Apply for a permanent license before the temporary license expires, beginning the process three (3) months prior to the expiration date.
  • Submit a resume along with two (2) professional references.
