Overview:

The Ultrasound Technologist will utilize medical ultrasound technology to conduct examinations as per physician directives, adhering to the professional standards set by the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography and the American Society of Radiologic Technologists. This role involves the proficient handling, setup, and operation of ultrasound machinery while ensuring patient care is tailored to individual needs.

This position operates under the guidance of the Radiology Medical Director, possessing a solid understanding of patient evaluation and treatment protocols as defined by institutional policies.

The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for relaying patient assessment data to the Radiologist when necessary. Additionally, the technologist is certified in Basic Life Support and is prepared to provide assistance when required. Accurate documentation of procedural details in the patient's medical records, including PACS, is a critical responsibility. Effective communication and behavior must align with the core values and mission of GoToro - AZ - Healthcare.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Uphold the standards of the OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
  • Execute a range of high-quality ultrasound examinations with minimal oversight using diagnostic imaging equipment.
  • Maintain documentation of calibration processes for each imaging device.
  • Organize, coordinate, and make prompt decisions regarding urgent cases to ensure efficiency and productivity.
  • Assist the Radiologist in conducting invasive biopsy procedures, utilizing ultrasound technology to accurately locate areas of concern for diagnostic evaluation.
  • Ensure all procedures are billed accurately and submitted at the end of each workday.
  • Maintain adequate supplies in the Ultrasound room, verify equipment and computer readiness, and report any issues that may disrupt workflow, ensuring corrective measures are implemented.
  • Capable of performing all tasks as outlined, as well as any additional responsibilities assigned by the immediate supervisor or manager.
  • Demonstrate the ability to fulfill patient care responsibilities in a manner that meets the diverse needs of the patient population served.
  • Adapt patient assessments to meet the unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, and developmental needs of each individual.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Education/Skills

  • Graduate from an accredited Ultrasound Technology program or an equivalent qualification.
  • At least one year of experience in Abdomen, OB/GYN, Vascular, and Breast Ultrasound is preferred.
  • ARDMS or ARRT/Sonography certification in Abdomen is required within one year.
  • LRST/ARRT Radiologic Technology License is preferred.
  • Certification in OB/GYN or Breast imaging is preferred.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.
