Job Title: Licensed Vocational Nurse

At STARS Behavioral Health Group, we are seeking a skilled Licensed Vocational Nurse to join our team at Star View Adolescent Center. As a Licensed Vocational Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing direct client care, including administration of medications and wound care. You will also be responsible for completing nursing assessments on new clients and maintaining vigilance over the general milieu within the facility.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct client care, including administration of medications and wound care
  • Complete nursing assessments on new clients
  • Maintain vigilance over the general milieu within the facility
  • Work with physicians and social workers to secure informed consent for medication from parents, courts, conservators, etc.
  • Take physician orders for medications, denial of rights, medical procedures, lab work, x-rays, etc. and ensure each order is implemented
  • Visually and audibly observe physical and psychiatric conditions and report changes to the Charge RN or the Psychiatrist or other Medical Doctor on call in the absence of the Charge RN or DON
  • Order and ensure on-going supply of individual medications for each child
Requirements:
  • Graduation from an accredited school of licensed vocational nursing or Licensed Psychiatric Technology required
  • One (1) year experience with SED children OR 40 hours on the job training
  • One (1) year medication administration experience and/or Associate degree, preferred
  • Valid California LVN or LPT License
