Diagnostic Imaging Specialist

UPMC Tri Rivers Musculoskeletal Centers is seeking a Part-Time Diagnostic Tech to join our team. This is a Monday-Friday, daylight position with no Nights, weekends, or holidays.
This role works directly with our Orthopedic division, assisting our physicians and Advanced Practice Providers with office hours and radiology imaging.
Responsibilities:
- Identify patients properly using two patient identifiers and utilize universal protocol when performing procedures.
- Review patient history and assess physician orders, applying specific departmental protocols for optimal results in data acquisition.
- Document patient history in electronic record as required.
- Administer PO and rectal contrast per physician orders/department policy.
- Ensure all exams are properly coded and tracked through the RIS system, networked to ISITE for archiving and interpretation, and charges are adequately entered.
- Perform diagnostic radiography procedures utilizing established protocols/procedures without requiring constant supervision.
- Utilize complex imaging equipment to acquire, analyze, manipulate, and document image data and complete procedures according to protocol.
- Interact with patients and co-workers, displaying a high level of caring, listening, dignity, and respect.
- Work as a team member within the department and all other departments to expedite patient care efficiently.
- Perform technical procedures that require independent judgment to adjust protocols and apply prescribed ionizing radiation appropriately.
- Communicate instructions to patients clearly and concisely, explaining procedures to alleviate fears and solicit cooperation.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- ARRT Registry eligible as a Radiologic Technologist.
- Must obtain radiography registry within 12 months of hire date.
- CPR or BLS Required.
- ARRT Certificate.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
- Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal.
- Act 33 with renewal.
- Act 34 with renewal.
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal.
