Job Summary

Ochsner Health is seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will play a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases by performing laboratory tests and analyzing results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform laboratory tests and procedures to provide data for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease
  • Analyze and record quality control and instrument maintenance/troubleshooting results
  • Escalate out-of-control results and ensure adequate documentation of corrective action
  • Adhere to regulatory compliance guidelines and maintain awareness of accreditation standards for laboratories
  • Follow safety guidelines and OIG compliance requirements
  • Participate in performance improvement opportunities and support business development and cost reduction initiatives
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Current license or temporary license as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist-Generalist or Clinical Laboratory Scientist-Specialist in the state of practice
  • Meet CLIA and CAP requirements for testing personnel relative to scope of duties
  • ASCP certification as a Medical Technologist
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and travel throughout and between facilities
Working Conditions

The incumbent works in a patient care area and may be exposed to blood, body fluids, and tissue. There may be an occupational risk for exposure to all communicable diseases.
