We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Physical Therapist Assistant to join our team in providing high-quality home care services.

Compensation

The estimated salary for this role is $52,630 per year, based on industry standards and location.

Job Description

Overview: As a Physical Therapist Assistant at Amedisys, you will play a vital role in delivering patient-centered care in the comfort of patients' homes. You will work closely with physical therapists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement effective treatment plans that improve patients' quality of life.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide physical therapy services and interventions under the direction and supervision of a physical therapist and in accordance with the physician-approved plan of care.
  • Observe, record, and report the patient's response to treatment and any change in the patient's condition to the supervising PT, physician, and other appropriate clinical staff.
  • Document supervisory activities in the patient's medical record.
  • Participate in patient care conferences, in-services, chart audit activities, quality improvement activities, including OBQI and OBQM, and peer-review activities.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information relating to the physical therapist-client relationship.
  • Make recommendations for follow-up care in coordination with the agency that admitted the patient and utilize other agency care providers to assist with referrals to community resources.

Qualifications:

  • Current license to practice as a physical therapy assistant, specific to the state you're assigned to work in.
  • Graduate from an accredited physical therapy assistant educational program as set by the Commission on Accreditation of Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).
  • One year related physical therapy experience for PTAs entering home health care to ensure that knowledge and skills are sufficient to safely provide physical therapy services to patients.
  • If less than one year of experience, approval from regional clinical leaders is required as well as appropriate mentoring and/or participating in a residency program.
  • Current CPR certification.
