Job OverviewThe Printer Operator works closely with the Manufacturing Supervisor to ensure the printing of high-quality products that meet or exceed customer expectations.
This role requires a strong focus on optimizing Safety, Quality, Productivity, and Spoilage in the printer/decorator beverage cans.
Responsibilities- Maintain activities of the printer/decorator beverage cans with a focus on optimizing Safety, Quality, Productivity, and Spoilage.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot decorator equipment.
- Communicate pertinent information between the supervisor, quality control, departments, and between shifts on changes to equipment, production problems, or any other related information.
- Assist and train new operators as needed or required.
- Apply skills and methods to improve plant production.
- Inspect product to ensure compliance to quality standards.
- Responsible for maintaining quality and modifying existing quality or production standards to achieve optimal efficiencies.
- Complete and/or administer necessary documentation, such as production sheets, schedules, monthly SAFE cards, accident/near miss/hazard reporting, and process control sheets.
- High School Education/GED.
- 2-3 years of experience in setup/operating/adjusting printing decorators in a manufacturing environment.
- Able to operate, read, understand, and use measuring x rite color density gauge, and computers.
- Must be available to work various shifts if needed and be able to work nights, weekends, and overtime to cover absences or provide additional support.
- 10 Hour OSHA Certification.
- Operation of a Rutherford Printer.
- Beverage Packaging industry experience.
- Ink toning knowledge.
- Problem-solving skills through an individual and/or collaborative approach.
- Ability to work independently or with a team.
- Effective leadership skills, such as conflict resolution, communication, decision making, etc.
- Demonstrated good relations skills and the ability to motivate or team with people.
- Excellent time management skills and multi-tasking.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Computer skills and working knowledge of various Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, Access, etc.).
While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
The associate may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
Working ConditionsGenerally works in a manufacturing environment.
While performing the duties of this job, the associate will be exposed to moving mechanical parts/product ink/additives, cleaning chemicals.
The associate may be exposed to climbing, oven heat, and tight spaces.
Production noise level is frequently loud.
