Itron is in search of a Firmware Architecture Engineer to join a diverse, global team dedicated to assessing, proposing, and documenting the architecture and high-level design of both new and ongoing projects. This role will encompass critical aspects related to security within embedded real-time operating systems (RTOS) and Linux-based platform architectures.
The selected candidate will play a significant role during the initial design stages, while also engaging in various product phases to ensure the delivery of robust, reliable, and secure solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate requirements, architectural strategies, and their implications, focusing on secure product design.
- Create and maintain comprehensive architectural documentation.
- Assist development teams in clarifying architectural concepts, design methodologies, and security implications.
- Collaborate directly with cross-functional teams, management, and colleagues on architecture and security matters.
- Provide mentorship to junior team members.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Over 5 years of relevant firmware development experience.
- Proficient in developing architectural and design documentation, including block diagrams, sequence diagrams, process flows, and interface definitions.
- Experience with application, system, and network-level functionalities, particularly concerning security issues.
- Familiarity with key and certificate management, trust chains, and storage methodologies.
- Knowledge of industry-standard cryptographic algorithms, operational modes, and secure protocols (ECDSA, ECDH, RSA, ECC, AES, TLS/SSL).
Essential Embedded Development Skills:
- Proficient in C/C++, kernel drivers, scripting, and debugging techniques.
- Solid understanding of source code management principles.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with ARM architecture, TI processors, and board bring-up processes.
- Familiarity with open-source and third-party security library cryptographic APIs.
- Understanding of the Linux kernel, filesystem, and securing them from the boot process through runtime.
- Knowledge of real-time operating systems (RTOS).
- Experience with GNU compiler and toolchains.
- Familiarity with tools such as Ubuntu, Jenkins, BlackDuck, VSTS/Azure DevOps, GIT, Enterprise Architect, and Visio.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
Travel Requirements:
Up to 10%.
