Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Radiologic Technologist to join our team at DMC Children's Hospital of Michigan. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the hospital's mission of delivering exceptional healthcare to children and families.

Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostic radiological exams utilizing appropriate imaging equipment, ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the process.
  • Verify patient identity and review medical records to ensure appropriateness of exams or procedures.
  • Interview patients to obtain, verify, or update medical history and assess risk factors, including medications, pregnancy, and psychological indicators.
  • Explain procedures to patients, including potential side effects, risks, benefits, alternatives, and follow-up instructions.
  • Set up equipment and acquire images as per script, reviewing and documenting exceptions from established protocols.
  • Recognize and respond to medical emergencies as necessary, providing physician-prescribed post-care instructions to patients.
  • Participate in process improvement activities within the radiology practice, including quality of care, patient flow, reject-repeat analysis, and patient satisfaction.
  • Provide imaging education to residents, student technologists, and new employees, as required.
Requirements
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography (R).
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BLS) training, completed by the end of the orientation period.
  • Strong analytical and clinical skills, with the ability to determine the most age-appropriate method of providing requested radiographs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse atmosphere.
  • Technical knowledge necessary to operate equipment, including specialized equipment and computers.
  • Ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment, handling multiple and changing priorities.
  • Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and positioning of patients.
