Job Title: Lowboy Driver

Job Summary:
Curtis Contracting, Inc. is seeking a skilled Lowboy Driver to transport heavy construction equipment to and from job sites. The ideal candidate will have experience operating a lowboy trailer and ensuring compliance with all state and federal transportation regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely load, secure, and transport heavy construction equipment using a lowboy trailer to various job sites.
  • Plan and follow the safest and most efficient routes, considering road conditions, weight restrictions, and permits.
  • Adhere to all DOT regulations, including maintaining an accurate log of driving hours, inspecting equipment before and after trips, and obtaining any necessary oversized load permits.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the truck, trailer, and load to ensure all safety protocols are met.
  • Maintain clear communication with dispatchers, project managers, and job site supervisors regarding delivery schedules, delays, and other relevant information.
  • Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting of the truck and trailer, including checking tire pressure, fluid levels, and brakes.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience operating a lowboy trailer, preferably in a heavy highway or construction environment.
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A with a clean driving record.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, particularly concerning oversized and overweight loads.
  • Prior experience working in the highway construction or heavy civil industry.

Working Conditions:

  • This position involves working outdoors in all weather conditions and driving long distances between construction sites.
  • May require weekend work or extended hours, depending on project deadlines.
