Position Overview

We are seeking a passionate Aquatic Team Coach to guide our novice and intermediate swimmers within the Age Group Swim Team. In this role, you will manage training sessions and competitions while ensuring effective communication with parents to keep them informed.

As the Aquatic Team Coach, you will be instrumental in developing young athletes' swimming abilities and self-assurance, making each practice both engaging and effective. Your leadership will be crucial in fostering a nurturing and encouraging atmosphere for our swimmers.

Work Schedule

This is a part-time role, averaging fewer than 20 hours weekly. The current youth practice schedule is Monday through Thursday from 5 PM to 8 PM, with occasional weekend commitments for both home and away competitions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Head Swim Coach to conduct training sessions for beginner and intermediate swimmers.
  • Provide coaching on competitive stroke techniques to enhance swimmers' performance.
  • Participate in swim conference meetings.
  • Organize and attend all scheduled swim competitions.
  • Coordinate parent volunteers for swim meets and special events.
  • Plan and participate in swim team events and fundraising activities.
  • Prepare and distribute meet line-ups and related information.
  • Maintain effective communication with parents through newsletters and flyers.
  • Develop the swim meet schedule for each season.
  • Ensure swimmers' conduct during practices and competitions.

Qualifications and Skills

  • At least two years of experience in competitive swimming at the high school or collegiate level; familiarity with current USS Swimming and Diving Rules is advantageous.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage with both adults and children.
