Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Underwriter to join our team at Global Payments. As a Senior Underwriter, you will be responsible for working with Operational and Sales teams, business Partners, and Payment Facilitators to establish accounts and ensure they are maintaining parameters set forth in their contracts.

You will work on and enforce Global Credit policy criteria, maintaining adherence to all operating regulations and strategies published by the card brands and other legal/regulatory bodies. You will also engage team members and leaders and develop strong data delivery and reporting in support of all contractual obligations.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in creating, executing, and maintaining policies and procedures, as well as experience reviewing and analyzing individual and company financial data.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Underwrite new incoming Partners and Merchants
  • Underwrite and audit new and Existing Payment Facilitators
  • Respond to requests from partnerships and review changes that they are requesting across their entire portfolio
  • Communicate with the integrations team, legal, solutions consultants, merchant underwriting, accounting teams, and support teams to ensure alignment in processes and requirements
  • Document processes through verbal or written communication
  • Be able to make suggestions to process changes by looking for areas of improvement
  • Review incoming requests for Partners who are requesting wholesale changes to their portfolio, which include any system limits and/or functionality
  • Review ProPay's Partners' sub-clients to ensure they are going through established parameters set by the team and determine if there needs to be a change to their system functionality
  • Ensure adherence to credit policy criteria, maintain adherence to all operating regulations and strategies published by the card brands and other legal/regulatory bodies, and engage team members and leaders
  • Work internally and externally on our approach to payment facilitation risk management
  • Analyze a wide variety of payment facilitator opportunities across a myriad of business types, primarily in an ecommerce environment, where potential financial risk exposure may be higher
  • Request and obtain information from the Sales Representatives as necessary to complete the review process
  • Determine the risk presented by each partner and their sub-clients based on a thorough review of business and transaction flows leveraging client-specific & overall portfolio data
  • Comprehensive review and analysis of individual and company reports, including Experian, Equifax, Dunn and Bradstreet, LexisNexis, Tax Returns, Financial statements, Merchant Processing Statements, etc.
  • Help prepare for audits of payment facilitators, both on-site and virtual
  • Communicate confidently and effectively with payment facilitators and sales representatives as required to obtain the required information
  • Communicate effectively with internal company departments, as well as multiple levels of management to accomplish a common goal
  • Makes recommendations to leadership on adjustments to policies and/or procedures to optimize productivity and scalability
  • Work with bank sponsor and integration partners on a wide variety of tasks

  • Support submission of applications to card brands for registrations
  • Respond calmly, quickly, and decisively to unpredictable or unexpected events and changes
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of related experience
  • Advanced in Excel, Word, and Outlook, Microsoft Office, Google Suite
  • Strong interpersonal and team work skills, and must have ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and maintain cordial and successful relationships with coworkers, and other business contacts
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong background in creating, executing, and maintaining policies and procedures
  • Experience reviewing and analyzing individual and company financial data
  • Must be a team-oriented individual with willingness to work with all levels of staff & customers (not exclusively high-level applicants) with a positive attitude
  • Driven, independent self-starter. Strong ability to target things that need doing and to get them done without direction and close oversight

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree majoring in Business, Finance, Criminal Justice, or MIS preferred, other majors considered
  • Previous audit or oversight responsibilities
  • Previous experience working with sponsor banks
  • Previous experience building and running reports with SQL
  • Strong knowledge of Payment Facilitation
