Position Overview

The Supply Chain Specialist is accountable for overseeing logistics operations within designated projects to ensure timely execution and satisfaction of internal stakeholders.

This role operates under the guidance of the Logistics Manager, maintaining comprehensive and precise updates regarding project logistics, particularly in relation to equipment status, mobilization and demobilization activities, material tracking and forecasting, tool procurement, conducting scheduled maintenance, training team members on maintenance protocols, and resolving logistical challenges.

The Supply Chain Specialist will report directly to the Logistics Manager and will undertake specific responsibilities as assigned. This position requires regional assignment with anticipated national travel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development and maintenance of site-specific logistics programs.
  • Assist in crafting a detailed logistics material timeline, focusing on high-value items (heavy machinery, installation supplies). Strategize the delivery and unloading of materials, coordinating with project operations as necessary.
  • Analyze and comprehend material budgets, initiating purchase orders for items requested by project operations, including small tools and miscellaneous supplies, while coordinating all purchases with the Logistics Manager.
  • Foster positive relationships with national third-party logistics providers, equipment rental firms, and small tooling suppliers.
  • Collaborate with McCarthy Quality to lead quality assurance initiatives. Identify and promote innovative methods and procedures for logistics operations.
  • Champion safety and accident prevention initiatives. Conduct safety meetings and inform the Logistics Manager of potential opportunities and concerns. Review and implement corrective actions for unsafe conditions and thoroughly investigate all incidents to prevent future occurrences.
  • Maintain documentation of daily logistics activities (e.g., daily logs, order requests, back charge notices, etc.).
  • Assist Project Engineers during the delivery and unloading processes, highlighting areas requiring special attention.
  • Engage with the Operations team to identify needs and opportunities for logistics kits to facilitate project setup and routine operational tasks.
  • Lead the scheduled maintenance program on-site and educate team members on maintenance best practices.
  • Provide just-in-time training on specialized tools at Renewable Energy construction sites nationwide.

Focus Areas:

  • Mobilization and Demobilization: IT & computer equipment, office furnishings, trailer layout/source, temporary barriers, utilities, etc.
  • Operational Support: Safety, tools, pile machines, and heavy equipment assistance, etc.
  • Materials Logistics: Management and coordination of construction material kits and prefabricated components (permanent material kitting designed by others).
  • Oversee vendors and McCarthy warehouse personnel to assemble various kits.
  • Develop and implement guidelines for site use and inventory management of kit contents.
Program Coordination & Ongoing Execution

  • Coordinate the delivery and collection of kits with project teams.
  • Create and deliver training to familiarize project teams with the use of all site kits.
  • Promote Continuous Improvement & Leadership within the program.
  • Regularly enhance and refine the program using feedback from the operational team.
Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years in logistics operations.
  • Experience in construction planning.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting design/construction drawings.
  • Familiarity with CAD systems or 3D modeling platforms is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated management and leadership capabilities.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Effective planning and program development abilities.
  • Intermediate maintenance skills.
