Job Description:

CPS Conservatorship Workers play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of children in Texas. As a Conservatorship Specialist, you will be responsible for working closely with families, communities, and other stakeholders to achieve positive permanency for children in care.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Receives cases from investigators and determines each child's needs, ensuring appropriate referrals for testing, evaluations, and assessments.
  • Works with children, families, and communities to plan for a child's permanency, identifying potential resources and conducting home studies.
  • Meets with parents to assess risk and safety issues, referring them to appropriate services to address identified needs.
  • Collaborates with a Placement Team, including Kinship staff, for placements, and participates in meetings and conferences to discuss case progress.
  • Visits children monthly to assess their feeling of safety in their current home and plans for permanency.
  • Attends and participates in court hearings, preparing court reports and testifying on the child's needs and the department's efforts to achieve permanency.

Requirements:
  • Knowledge of child development and family dynamics.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Problem-solving techniques and ability to operate a personal computer.
  • Ability to travel and attend child and family visits, as well as other work-related appointments and meetings.
