Key Responsibilities
  • Guest Service
    • Learn and use guests' names to address them, and remember regular guests' favorite drinks.
    • Inspect the restaurant and stations before, during, and after shifts for proper setup, side work, and cleanliness, and perform assigned duties with respect to setup, side work, and breakdown of restaurant and stations.
    • Maintain communication with the Chef, understand the menu prior to opening, and be aware of changes during service.
    • Personally convey any special requests to the Chef and Manager.
  • Menu Knowledge
    • Be knowledgeable of all menu items, garnishes, contents, and preparation methods of the Restaurant and Bar.
    • Be prepared to answer any guest questions about the menu in a direct and concise way.
  • Order Taking and Service
    • Accurately take food and beverage orders for the Restaurant/Bar, utilize suggestive selling techniques, input orders into the POS computer system, and promptly place orders with the bartender and/or kitchen.
    • Explain specific guest requests, compile orders (including proper garnishes, side orders, and condiments), deliver and serve orders to guests, replenish beverages, and clear tables as guests finish drinks and/or meals.
    • Regularly check back with guests, anticipate guest needs, and promptly act to resolve any problems or guest complaints.
    • Apprise management of all guest complaints and operational problems, even those that have been resolved.
  • Food and Beverage Service
    • Serve food and beverages in accordance with established techniques for quality service, appearance, temperature, and portions.
    • Carry trays containing food, beverages, coffee pots, pitchers of beverages, and service ware carefully through crowded areas.
  • Bar Operations
    • Responsible for profitable bar cost by accurate measurement of product.
    • Measure all drinks properly using a jigger. No free pouring.
  • Cash Handling and Reporting
    • Promptly present checks to guests.
    • Understand and adhere to all cash, credit, guest check, and tip reporting procedures.
  • Regulatory Compliance
    • Adhere to all regulations concerning the handling, storage, and service of alcoholic beverages.
  • Additional Responsibilities
    • Answer Restaurant telephone and answer caller questions.
    • Possess a strong knowledge of alcoholic beverages, service standards, and etiquette.
    • Possess knowledge of service ware and food and beverage equipment used in the preparation of beverages and side dishes.
    • Control the operation of your station and ensure proper execution of service between team members.
    • Awareness of hotel functions and special events.
    • Help maintain the cleanliness of the restaurant/bar.

Requirements
