About The Crown: Royal Coffee Lab & Tasting Room

The Crown is an open-source coffee education center, laboratory, event space, and tasting room that showcases Oakland's significance in the global coffee community. It's a hub for innovation and collaboration across the coffee supply chain, offering training, experimentation, and cuppings to connect producers, roasters, baristas, and consumers.

Job ResponsibilitiesBarista Core Responsibilities
  • Create and serve drinks to high standards set by the Tasting Room Manager
  • Provide excellent customer service, explain the menu, and have extensive knowledge of the coffees served
  • Maintain cleanliness, handle cash, and manage inventory
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a top-notch visitor experience
  • Work an 8-hour day with unpaid meal breaks and have flexible availability for seven-day operations
Lab Assistant Responsibilities
  • Maintain presentation and lab areas, assist with tastings, and experiment with brewing techniques
  • Support content creation for various platforms and aid in team collaboration
Collaboration & Cross Functional Success
  • Participate in other areas of The Crown for a holistic understanding and continuous professional growth
  • Take educational courses offered and cup coffees with the team
