We are in search of a skilled Mechanical Engineer to become a vital member of our Building Design Group in our Baltimore, MD office. In this role, you will be instrumental in the design and execution of mechanical systems across diverse projects. Your responsibilities will encompass everything from initial concept development to overseeing construction, ensuring the delivery of sustainable, efficient, and cost-effective solutions. You will also have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers, supporting their professional development.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Documentation Development: Create detailed plans, sections, schedules, controls, cost estimates, and specifications for mechanical systems, ensuring precision and clarity throughout the design phase.
  2. System Selection: Evaluate project specifications and recommend appropriate mechanical systems, focusing on efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
  3. Energy and Cost Analysis: Perform comprehensive analyses to enhance energy efficiency and evaluate the long-term financial implications of mechanical systems, contributing to sustainable design practices.
  4. Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed about industry codes and standards to ensure all mechanical designs meet safety and compliance requirements.
  5. Sustainable Practices: Incorporate eco-friendly design principles into mechanical systems, aiming to reduce environmental impact while enhancing performance.
  6. Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with architects, structural engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems into overall project designs.
  7. Stakeholder Communication: Clearly convey technical information and project updates to clients, contractors, and team members, fostering strong relationships and project success.
  8. Control Strategy Development: Design and implement effective control strategies for mechanical systems, optimizing their performance according to project needs.
  9. Innovative Design: Apply engineering principles and software tools to create innovative solutions, from initial concepts to detailed designs.
  10. Equipment Evaluation: Assess and select suitable equipment and components for mechanical systems, ensuring efficiency, reliability, and compatibility.
  11. Mentorship: Guide and support junior staff, helping them develop their skills and ensuring the quality of their work.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • 3-6 years of experience in mechanical engineering, ideally within the consulting sector.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
  • Proficiency in software tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, and HVAC design applications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
