Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Coding Specialist to join our team at Retina Specialty Institute. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical coding, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coding and Billing: Accurately assign ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes for procedures and diagnoses, ensuring compliance with medical coding regulations and maximizing reimbursement for all provided services.
  • Data Entry and Claims Submission: Enter coded data and other patient information into practice management software, perform accuracy checks, and submit claims to insurance companies.
  • Follow-up and Resolution: Follow up on unpaid claims within the standard billing cycle timeframe, verifying each insurance payment for accuracy and compliance with contract terms, and addressing and resolving billing and insurance discrepancies as needed.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in healthcare-related field or equivalent experience required.
  • Proficient in medical terminology, ICD-10, and CPT coding.
  • Familiarity with ophthalmology procedures, terminology, and patient care services.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
