Certified Respiratory Therapist | Part Time | Nights
Position Overview:
The Certified Respiratory Therapist is responsible for executing comprehensive respiratory care tasks across various nursing units and critical care settings, including but not limited to MICU, NICU, SICU, CSCU, PACU, Nursery, and Emergency Department.
This role involves assessing the therapeutic effectiveness of respiratory treatments provided to patients, engaging in discussions with physicians regarding any challenges patients may encounter with their therapy, and offering suitable recommendations tailored to a diverse patient demographic.
The Certified Respiratory Therapist also plays a crucial role in onboarding new respiratory care personnel, providing education and guidance on the utilization of available medical equipment.
Education Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent is required. Candidates must have graduated from an accredited and state-approved Respiratory Therapy Program.
Licensure:
Current licensure from the appropriate health department is mandatory. Military validated licensure may be accepted under specific state or federal exemptions.
Certifications:
Candidates must be credentialed by the National Board for Respiratory Care as a Certified Respiratory Therapist. If holding a temporary license, eligibility for certification is required, with the obligation to sit for the next available examination before the temporary license expires. Additionally, completion of BCLS certification during orientation is necessary, along with the maintenance of current BCLS certification.
Current certifications in ACLS and Neonatal Resuscitation are required within a specified timeframe from the start of employment.
Experience:
A minimum of one year of experience as a Certified Respiratory Therapist is preferred.
Reporting Structure:
This position reports to the Manager of Respiratory Care.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
May supervise Respiratory Therapists when assigned.
Physical Demands:
The role is moderately active, involving frequent movement within the facility and occasional travel to other locations. It requires the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull objects, including patients, safely.
Employees must be prepared for exposure to bodily fluids and other potentially infectious materials.
Tasks may involve repetitive motions and require good auditory and visual acuity.
Flexibility in scheduling is essential to meet the hospital's operational needs.
Mental Demands:
Strong analytical and decision-making skills are essential. Excellent communication abilities, both verbal and written, are necessary for effective interaction with patients and colleagues.
Attention to detail and the capacity to manage multiple tasks in high-pressure situations are critical.
Special Requirements:
Exceptional customer service skills and professional demeanor are required. Proficiency in computer use and familiarity with office technology is necessary.
A valid driver's license is required as travel within the service area is part of the job responsibilities.
