Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our team at Amity Truck & Tractor Repair LLC. As a Heavy Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for repairing and maintaining heavy-duty trucks and tractors, ensuring they are in good working condition and meet safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Test drive vehicles and diagnose problems using specialized equipment.
  2. Examine vehicles to determine the extent of damage or malfunctions.
  3. Repair, replace, and adjust brakes, suspension, and other critical systems.
  4. Perform routine maintenance services, such as oil changes, lubrications, and tune-ups.
  5. Repair and service air conditioning, heating, engine cooling, and electrical systems.
  6. Test and adjust repaired systems to meet manufacturers' performance specifications.
  7. Review work orders and discuss work with supervisors.
  8. Tear down, repair, and rebuild faulty assemblies, such as power systems, steering systems, and linkages.
  9. Plan work procedures, using charts, technical manuals, and experience.
  10. Disassemble units and inspect parts for wear, using micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
  11. Repair or replace parts such as pistons, rods, gears, valves, and bearings.
  12. Rewire ignition systems, lights, and instrument panels.
  13. Repair manual and automatic transmissions.
  14. Use proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • One to two years of experience in heavy-duty diesel mechanics or a related field.
  • Knowledge of heavy-duty diesel engines, transmissions, and other critical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and diagrams.
  • Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications

Air conditioning certification and experience with forklift operation are preferred.

Work Environment

This is a physically demanding role that requires standing, walking, and lifting heavy objects. You will work in a fast-paced environment with a focus on safety and quality.
