Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and Serve Beverages: Prepare and serve a variety of beverages, including cocktails, beers, and wines, using established pour standards and drink recipes.
  • Promote House Drinks: Promote our house drinks and use up-selling skills to increase revenue and enhance the guest experience.
  • Set Up and Maintain the Bar: Set up and maintain the bar area, including all liquor, mixers, ice, garnishes, glassware, and supplies.
  • Manage Cash and Credit Transactions: Receive cash and credit payments from customers and provide accurate change.
  • Count and Secure Cash: Count and secure the bartender's bank and balance cash drawer at the end of each shift in line with hotel procedures.
  • Deliver Exceptional Service: Deliver superior service and maximize customer satisfaction by anticipating and meeting the needs of our guests.
  • Coordinate with Food Service: Coordinate food service with the restaurant for bar/lounge guests, if applicable.
  • Monitor Guest Behavior: Monitor guest behavior and guest alcohol consumption to determine when alcohol service to the guest should cease.
  • Notify Management: Notify management of incidents involving excessive alcohol consumption or impaired condition of guests.
  • Check Identification: Check the identification of guests appearing to be under 40 years of age.
  • Solve Guest Problems: Solve guest problems/complaints using appropriate service recovery guidelines.
  • Work as a Team: Engage with guests and fellow associates as well as work as a team to provide exceptional service.
  • Perform Pre and Post Shift Work: Perform pre and post shift work as assigned, including requisitioning necessary supplies and managing liquor inventory.
  • Ensure a Safe Environment: Ensure that all liquor is properly secured before, during, and at the close of shift, and follow hotel safety protocols and procedures at all times.
  • Inspect Equipment: Inspect all equipment and machinery for proper operation.
  • Maintain a Clean Workspace: Ensure that the workspace, equipment, and floors are cleaned and maintained.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: A high school or equivalent education is preferred, and a minimum of six months of prior food service experience is preferred.
  • Age and Availability: Must be at the minimum age to serve alcohol in line with any local legislative requirements, and must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • Communication and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong communication, problem-solving, and reasoning skills are essential.
  • Physical Demands: Must be able to lift and transport items weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular and continuing basis, and must be able to exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours in length.
