General Overview:
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a crucial role in the healthcare team, providing essential support in the planning and execution of patient care. This position involves utilizing clinical judgment, knowledge, and skills to ensure effective patient management. The LPN will also serve as a resource for clinical staff, adhering to the standards set by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collects comprehensive patient histories and pertinent information.
- Conducts specialized procedures and tests as directed, including urinary catheterization and IV line insertion, following established protocols.
- Ensures all clinical areas are stocked with necessary supplies and medications.
- Maintains the sterility of instruments and equipment, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Facilitates communication between healthcare providers and patients, enhancing patient understanding of their care.
- Collaborates with healthcare providers to reinforce health education and counseling for patients and families.
- Evaluates patient health status based on symptoms and directs them to appropriate care levels.
- Monitors and tracks diagnostic test results, ensuring timely communication with patients regarding their health status.
- Provides education on healthcare utilization and community resources to enhance patient care.
- Completes necessary documentation and scheduling for diagnostic and therapeutic services.
- Maintains accurate patient records in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Adheres to HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
- Processes prescription requests and refills in accordance with established policies.
- Implements Universal Precautions in all patient interactions.

Physical Requirements:
- Frequent standing and walking.

Qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited LPN program.
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical nursing experience.
- Current LPN license and Basic Life Support certification required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
