With ownership and sustainable management of over 600,000 acres of timberland across multiple states, Roseburg operates an export wood chip terminal facility, ensuring a robust supply chain for its products distributed throughout North America and the Pacific Rim.
Position Objective
The Environmental Engineer will ensure adherence to all applicable Federal, State, and Local Environmental Regulations, encompassing Air Quality, Land and Water Pollution Control, and Hazardous & Solid Waste Management.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee environmental compliance at the facility level.
- Compile and maintain records for regulatory compliance.
- Report compliance status to relevant state and federal agencies.
- Conduct on-site evaluations of facilities.
- Collaborate with plant personnel to ensure the implementation of control measures and completion of routine monitoring.
- Manage waste inventory and disposal processes.
- Assist state (DEQ) and federal (EPA) regulators during facility inspections.
- Engage in miscellaneous sampling projects and training initiatives.
- Participate in ongoing education and certification to meet environmental laws and regulations.
- Support environmental assessments at various facilities.
- Facilitate permit renewals and conduct preliminary project reviews.
- Assist in project permitting processes.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, along with a minimum of three years of relevant experience.
- Comprehensive understanding of environmental regulations pertinent to the role.
- Exceptional attention to detail with a strong emphasis on accuracy and efficiency to meet stringent governmental reporting standards.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with all levels of management, from plant managers to hourly staff.
- Certification to assess opacity via Method 9.
- Certification in Hazardous Materials (Hazmat).
- General knowledge of response protocols for spills, upsets, and deviations.
- Capability to complete projects and reports efficiently and on time.
- Proficiency in managing multiple projects concurrently while maintaining a comprehensive timeline for completion.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Able to thrive in a highly functional team environment.
