Position Summary:
This role serves as a Float Supervisor, stepping in as needed to support the Shift Supervisor during their absence. The position requires flexibility across three shifts, operating seven days a week.

Shift Details:
1st Shift: Multiple openings available for supervising mechanics and drivers.
2nd Shift: Multiple openings available for supervising mechanics and drivers, with a shift premium.
3rd Shift: Multiple openings available for supervising mechanics and drivers, with a shift premium.
Weekends: Required to work 1-2 weekends per month.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of mechanics across various departments.
  • Distribute work orders and facilitate smooth transitions between shifts.
  • Ensure accountability for job completion timelines by understanding basic mechanical job requirements.
  • Oversee documentation of vehicle issues and customer concerns by mechanics and drivers.
  • Assess road conditions to determine testing capabilities and coordinate with the Grounds crew for necessary maintenance.
  • Collaborate with the onsite engineering team regarding vehicle status and engineering support.
  • Provide troubleshooting assistance for basic iPad issues.
  • Schedule drivers based on vehicle priority and driver capabilities.
  • Understand and enforce union contracts and disciplinary actions as necessary.
  • Conduct monthly safety talks and ensure timely completion of sign-offs.
  • Create maintenance requests for damaged equipment and facilities.
  • Monitor and maintain stock levels of consumables for trailers and testing requirements.
  • Develop and uphold safety protocols while presenting improvements at plant-wide safety meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with testing requirements for vehicles and timely completion of work orders.
  • Drive continuous process improvements and best practices to enhance safety, quality, cost efficiency, and team morale.
  • Facilitate mechanic training to ensure all required mechanical tasks are performed effectively.
  • Review overtime requests and assess needs to meet testing and certification targets.
  • Manage driver assignments based on vehicle availability.
  • Review driving performance and address any deficiencies in meeting minimum requirements.
  • Coordinate mechanic support for development trips as requested by engineering.
  • Order necessary parts for mechanics and drivers to fulfill their responsibilities.
  • Must be trained as an Incident Commander and lead Emergency Response Team efforts across all shifts.
  • Training opportunities are available.

Qualifications:

  • Previous supervisory experience is required.
  • A degree is not mandatory.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Mid-level computer proficiency is necessary.
  • Demonstrable leadership skills, including the ability to enforce guidelines, coach employees, and hold team members accountable.
  • Automotive experience is preferred.
  • Experience working with unions is preferred.
