Motion Recruitment Partners LLC is seeking a motivated and experienced Senior Linux Systems Administrator to support our Department of Defense (DOD) client. This role presents an exciting opportunity to contribute to a leading organization that values innovation and excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee technical projects, documenting insights and proposing enhancements for continuous improvement.
  • Engage in hands-on management of Linux servers and workstations.
  • Address escalated support requests, tackling software, hardware, and networking challenges.
  • Maintain and upgrade Linux systems, including software deployments.
  • Configure IT infrastructure, services, directories, and storage in alignment with project and organizational standards.
  • Implement security updates on a regular basis or as required.
  • Create and sustain comprehensive documentation for system setups, configurations, and troubleshooting.
  • Manage various tasks while adapting priorities to meet client requirements.
  • Provide proactive support to management regarding technology strategies, process enhancements, and implementations.
  • Monitor the performance and stability of laboratory environments, assist users, and enforce IT policies.
  • Develop operational procedures for lab support, identifying opportunities for process optimization, tool improvement, and automation.
  • Contribute to the vision and strategy for non-production environments, assisting in their execution.
  • Install and configure AFMS products in lab settings (both on-premises and cloud-based) as well as at client sites.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • U.S. citizenship is necessary to obtain and maintain a Secret Security clearance.
  • 5-7 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Familiarity with various server types (web, file, license, application, etc.).
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (Bash, Python, PERL, etc.).
  • Experience with RHEL-based Linux distributions.
  • Familiarity with automation tools (Ansible preferred, Terraform is a plus).
  • Knowledge of VMware vCenter and vSphere v6.5 or newer.
  • Experience with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is advantageous.
  • Understanding of networking principles and TCP/IP.
  • Knowledge of patch management processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational capabilities.
  • Ability to deliver exceptional customer service while managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with users.
  • Self-driven with a strong aptitude for quickly learning new IT technologies.
