Job Summary

This position is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe working environment in the warehouse and facility. The successful candidate will perform various sanitation and cleaning tasks, including dusting, sweeping, washing, and mopping, as well as maintaining sanitary conditions and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Custodial Duties: Perform all custodial duties throughout the facility, including dusting, sweeping, washing, wiping, scrubbing, shoveling, and mopping, often requiring the use of ladders.
  • Sanitation and Cleaning: Maintain sanitary conditions in the facility, including collection and disposal of trash and debris, and cleaning up spills.
  • Cooler and Warehouse Cleaning: Clean cooler and cooler floor, sweep and mop coolers, dry warehouse, all aisles, and the equipment mezzanine, including slot cleaning.
  • Floor Care: Scrub floors in aisle areas of the dry warehouse, cooler areas, and docks, and preserve floor care using power equipment in assigned areas.
  • Parking Lot and Sidewalk Maintenance: Maintain parking lots and front sidewalks on a regular basis to ensure a clean and safe appearance.
  • Trash Removal: Remove trash or other property damaging elements, such as nails and glass.
  • Sanitation Log: Complete a daily sanitation log to document sanitation activities and provide information for planning and evaluation.
  • Recycling Program Support: Assist with the stretch wrap and cardboard recycling program, including transportation of materials to the balers, bailing, and tying of materials, and placing tied bales onto pallets for shipment.
  • Warehouse Rack Cleaning: Dust and vacuum warehouse racks.
  • Cobweb Removal: Remove cobwebs from the warehouse area on an ongoing basis to maintain sanitary conditions.
  • Restroom Cleaning: Clean restrooms as needed to maintain sanitary conditions, including cleaning of urinals, toilets, sinks, counters, mirrors, sweeping and mopping of floors, and restocking paper dispensers.
  • Warehouse Shrink Reduction: Work effectively with the immediate supervisor to minimize warehouse shrink (product loss).
  • Work Area Maintenance: Maintain the neatness and cleanliness of assigned work areas and travel aisles.
  • Product Location Accuracy: Maintain the accuracy of warehouse product locations when performing slot cleaning.
  • Reporting and Safety: Report any unfixable or unsafe issues to the supervisor immediately and observe and enforce all safety rules to reduce accidents and injuries.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate material handling equipment, such as forklifts and pallet jacks, in a safe and orderly manner to reduce accidents and injuries.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensure that material handling equipment is maintained (inspected daily) and clean, and report repair or service needs to the supervisor.
  • Company Policies and Regulations: Understand and comply with all applicable company policies and regulations, including attendance, Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, Associate Handbook, and OSHA, HACCP, and AIB regulations.
Qualifications
  • Education: High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience: 1-year warehouse-related experience and/or training.
  • Requirements: Must be 18 years of age and able to work independently with minimal supervision and have strong attention to details.
  • Language Skills: Must have the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos, and read and write simple correspondence.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Reasoning Ability: Requires the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form, and the ability to deal with standardized situations with occasional variables.
Work Environment

This is a full-time position that requires the ability to work a varying schedule, including shift work (days or nights), weekdays or weekends, and some holidays. Work hours may vary or change based on departmental requirements. The job is primarily performed in a warehouse environment, with regular exposure to fast-moving material handling equipment or other mechanical equipment, and occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, high, precarious places, vehicle emissions, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, and high voltage electrical equipment and vibration.
