Job Summary

The Assistant General Manager plays a critical role in overseeing daily station operations, ensuring safety, financial management, and client relationship management to retain contracts. Key responsibilities include achieving performance metrics, developing strategies for operational efficiency and profitability, guiding recruitment and training efforts, and collaborating with stakeholders. The position also involves identifying new business opportunities, maintaining customer relationships, and acting as a deputy to the General Manager when required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day station operations
  • Prioritize workplace safety with established metrics
  • Maintain financial performance by controlling labor costs and expenditures
  • Focus on client relationships and contract retention
  • Develop and implement strategies for operational efficiency and profitability
  • Achieve monthly performance metrics and service level agreements
  • Identify and secure new business opportunities
  • Provide assistance with recruitment, interview, training, and hiring employees
  • Collaborate with the General Manager, Vice President, Corporate Controller, and other stakeholders
  • Meet administrative requirements
  • Monitor and record operational and financial performance
  • Work with Sales, Vice President, and Controller to develop competitive bids for new business
  • Recommend salary adjustments, transfers, promotions, and terminations
  • Partner with the training department to ensure proper training of assigned personnel
  • Maintain and foster successful working relationships with customers
  • Meet or exceed established Key Performance Indicators and Service Level Agreements
  • Demonstrate regular, predictable attendance
  • Stand-in for the General Manager when required
Qualifications
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Eligible to work in the United States
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, logistics, or a related field
  • Minimum of 8 years of management experience in the aviation cargo industry or a similar operational role
  • Proven ability to manage large teams and complex operations
  • Knowledge of industry-specific software and technology
  • Experience in implementing process improvements and operational efficiencies
  • Intermediate/Highly proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
  • Ability to access and interpret information in print and electronically
  • Effective communication skills
  • Pass a background check and drug screen
  • Eligibility to acquire needed credentials and clearances
  • Ability to work any day/shift, including holidays, within a 24/7 operation
Physical Activity/Working Conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 70 pounds
  • Prolonged standing and walking in an indoor/outdoor environment
  • Must be able to push, pull, and crawl in confined spaces
  • Must be able to work at elevated heights
  • Exposure to moderate and at times high noise levels
  • Exposure to outdoor elements
  • Ability to hear and respond to the spoken voice and audible alarms
  • Tasks may involve repetitive motions of the arms, wrists, hands, and/or fingers
  • Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
