Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Chief Test Pilot to join our team at Electra Aero. As a key member of our flight team, you will be responsible for piloting our experimental technical demonstrator and other products, ensuring accurate, repeatable, and cost-effective data is supplied to our engineering group.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Flight Testing: Conduct experimental flight tests in our ultra-short take-off and landing aircraft, ensuring compliance with established safety protocols and procedures.
  • Test Planning and Coordination: Collaborate with flight test engineering teams to develop test plans, test cards, and test procedures, aligning with requirements from our product team.
  • Flight Manual Development: Create and maintain flight manuals, operations, checklists, and procedures, ensuring adherence to established company and FAA guidelines.
  • Safety and Flight Readiness: Lead and/or participate in safety of flight and flight readiness review boards, ensuring the highest level of safety and preparedness.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Complete all required documentation in accordance with established company and FAA procedures, maintaining accurate and detailed records.
  • Flying Currency and Proficiency: Maintain flying currency and proficiency in multiple different aircraft types, staying up-to-date with the latest training and certification requirements.
Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in an engineering or related field required.
  • Experience: Twelve (12) or more years of experience in relevant field/discipline areas as an Experimental Test Pilot (or an equivalent combination of education, skills, and experience).
Desired Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in flight test engineering or related field preferred.
  • FAA Class II Medical.
  • Experience working with the FAA and familiarity with aircraft, helicopter, or powered lift FAA certification programs preferred.
  • Experience flight testing rotorcraft aircraft preferred.
  • Experience with flight testing eSTOL aircraft preferred.
  • Experience flying tilt-rotor aircraft preferred.
  • Experience operating light transport helicopters and/or aircraft preferred.
  • Formation flying, flight training, and media demos preferred.
  • Experience developing/optimizing simulators/ground control station and training equipment preferred.
  • Experience in developing digital flight control systems preferred.
  • Experience flight testing rapid prototype aircraft and components preferred.
  • Experience working in fast-paced small teams preferred.
Travel:

Up to 50% of domestic and international travel may be required.

Salary:

Electra Aero's salary range for this position is: $100,000 - $224,750.00. Our salary ranges reflect the minimum and maximum range for the Company level overall across all locations & projects and does not necessarily reflect the budgeted amount for this position. Individual pay is based on additional factors, including project budgets, job-related skills, experience, relevant education and/or training, role, level, location, and project.

Working Conditions:

Work is typically performed in a warehouse/aviation and office environment which requires proper safety precautions. Work may require some physical effort in the handling of light materials, boxes, power tools, prototypes, different materials or equipment. Due to the nature of our business and projects, some fieldwork may be required, working in both indoor and outdoor conditions. May need to lift up to 50 lbs.
