Grain Handling Operator Job Overview

Position Summary:
The Grain Handling Operator plays a crucial role in the intake, management, and storage of corn. This position requires overseeing conveyor systems, regulating material flow, and maintaining the quality of the grain.

This is a full-time and permanent role with work hours from Monday to Friday during the first shift, with opportunities for overtime during peak harvest periods.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Modify deflector bars, gates, chutes, or spouts to guide material flow effectively.
  • Utilize scales to weigh materials, ensuring accurate tonnages and preventing overloads.
  • Operate machinery to regulate material flows efficiently.
  • Document production metrics and equipment performance.
  • Monitor operations and machinery to ensure optimal functioning.
  • Maintain cleanliness and functionality of equipment and work areas.
  • Manage elevator systems in conjunction with conveyor operations.
  • Work closely with supervisors on sorting protocols.
  • Ensure grain quality is upheld to avoid contamination.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent experience is required; a technical certificate or degree is preferred.
  • Experience in a grain handling setting is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with mechanical repair and maintenance is beneficial.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is necessary.
  • Ability to work independently with strong critical thinking skills.
  • Effective communication skills in English are essential.
  • Capability to work autonomously in a dynamic environment.
