Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Radiologic Technologist to join our team at Mount Sinai Health System. As a Radiologic Technologist, you will be responsible for performing radiographic examinations on patients referred by physicians in accordance with Radiology protocols.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine radiological procedures, applying the necessary technical judgment to obtain studies of an acceptable diagnostic quality.
  • Assist, prepare, and position patients as required to perform radiological procedures.
  • Provide patient education relevant to specific imaging procedures, informing patients of the nature of the procedure, the area to be imaged, and any specific instructions they may need.
  • Ensure all radiographic images are appropriately labeled as specified by the department SOP.
  • Employ radiation protection measures, including collimation on all images, and follow departmental protocols to keep exposure of patients and hospital personnel to a minimum.
  • Assist physicians directly as required.
  • Evaluate radiographs for technical acceptability and ensure images are transmitted to PACS in a timely fashion.
  • Ensure Radiology room and equipment cleanliness, including removal of soiled or dirty linen.
  • Maintain supplies and accessories in imaging room necessary to safely perform duties.
  • Accurately record all required patient tracking information into IDX (Radiology Information System).
  • Schedule exams into IDX (Radiology Information System) as required.
  • Ensure that all studies performed are completed in IDX (Radiology Information System) in a timely fashion.
  • Call for in-patients as required.
  • Perform related clerical duties in the absence of support personnel.
  • Inform supervisor or appropriate personnel of needed repairs to equipment or unsafe conditions.
  • Supervise radiology students assigned to his/her clinical area.
  • Prevent the spread of infection to self, patients, visitors, and other employees by adhering to infection control policies and protocol.
  • Attend in-services and other professional development meetings as required.
  • Maintain in good standing, licensure specific to job, including adherence to Article 35 of the Public Health Code.
Requirements
  • Associates Degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • Six months to one year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • N.Y. State Dept. of Health Licensed Radiologic Technologist and/or a current temporary permit under section 3505 of the Public Health Law pending examination for licensure.
