About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Engineer to join our team at Grubhub. As a key member of our IT department, you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our corporate network, server, endpoint, and cloud environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Network Design and Implementation: Design, recommend, and implement network systems both on-prem and in the cloud, ensuring seamless integration with our existing infrastructure.
  • Network Administration: Oversee day-to-day administrative activities to maintain network infrastructure systems, ensuring optimal performance and security.
  • Security and Compliance: Identify and recommend areas of improvement to configuration, design, process, and documentation, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Interact with employees to understand their work processes and seek creative ways to improve our workflows with technology, ensuring effective collaboration and communication across teams.
  • Project Management: Work with members in various offices to ensure that projects and priorities are aligned, coordinated, and prioritized, ensuring timely completion and delivery of results.
  • Technical Writing and Documentation: Contribute to improving internal tools and automation to make maintaining production services easier, safer, and more robust, and maintain accurate and up-to-date technical documentation.
  • Troubleshooting and Incident Response: Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve cloud, virtual, and physical network and security issues, identifying areas of improvement to rectify any deficiencies or enhance performance.
  • Capacity Planning and Disaster Recovery: Analyze system requirements and system interdependencies, ensuring planned testing activities are performed and technical criteria are met, and develop and implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
  • Staying Current with Emerging Technologies: Remain current on new technologies and evaluate for value and improvements, ensuring our infrastructure remains secure, efficient, and effective.
  • Monitoring and Vulnerability Management: Manage and deploy monitoring to ensure availability of network and systems, and manage network vulnerability assessments and penetration testing programs, ensuring our infrastructure remains secure and resilient.
  • Partnership and Collaboration: Partner with Cybersecurity to select, deploy, and maintain security tooling, and implement and maintain proactive security controls to mitigate cyber threats, ensuring our infrastructure remains secure and protected.
  • Continuous Learning and Improvement: Stay informed on the latest cyber threats and vulnerabilities, and continuously seek opportunities for learning and improvement, ensuring our infrastructure remains secure, efficient, and effective.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience: 5+ years experience with network switch technologies such as Cisco and Aruba networks, 5+ years experience managing border security and firewalls, 5+ years experience with wireless technologies, spectrum analysis, encryption, and authentication, 5+ years working in and maintaining a cloud and hybrid virtual infrastructure, 3+ years of experience with security and authentication protocols (SAML, LDAP, etc.), familiarity with network and cloud security principles and practices, experience with security tooling and processes related to vulnerability management, and ability to apply cybersecurity functions (e.g., encryption, access control, and identity management) to reduce exploitation opportunities.
  • Skills: Experience with network protocols and routing and troubleshooting utilizing various capture and analysis tools, knowledge of SD-WAN technologies and theories, knowledge of Zero-Trust Network Access (ZTNA) Infrastructure solutions like Zscaler and Cloudflare, knowledge of TCP/IP, IPSec VPN tunnel configuration and troubleshooting (IKE1/IKE2), SNMP, experience with major cloud providers such as Azure, AWS, GCP, Compute/Containers, Storage, etc., technical writing, documentation, clear communication skills, virtualization concepts, and storage technologies that often support it (VMware, AHV, vMotion, NetApp and Dell EMC), understanding of distributed systems, track record of sound judgment, problem-solving, decision making, organizational and analytical skills, ability to collaborate and communicate with all levels of the organization, from peers to management and executives, and experience working with virtual/remote staff members.
