Job Title: Occupational Therapist

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our team at Elderwood of Scallop Shell. As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of our residents by providing comprehensive and quality therapy services.

Responsibilities:
  • Administer skilled occupational therapy treatments in accordance with physician's orders and maintain required contact with physicians.
  • Maintain written evaluations, progress notes, MDS records, and discharge summaries for individuals in occupational therapy programs.
  • Confer with other healthcare staff regarding special needs of individuals to enhance rehabilitation or maintenance of function.
  • Provide input for Care Planning meetings and attend during absences of the Director of Occupational Therapy.
  • Maintain statistical records of individuals' treatments.
  • Assist with in-service training programs upon request.
  • Record and update individual's care plan.
  • Submit requisition for supplies needed in the treatment of individuals to Director of Occupational Therapy.
  • Assume all duties of the Director of Occupational Therapy, if applicable, during absences, including supervision of COTA's and Occupational Therapy Aides.
Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an approved school of occupational therapy required.
  • State license to practice occupational therapy required.
  • Two years' experience in occupational therapy preferred.
  • Interest in occupational therapy treatment programs for the geriatric and subacute populations utilizing a team approach.
  • Ability to direct others necessary.
  • Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing required.
  • Current, valid CPR/BLS credential.
  • Sense of responsibility and ability to work well with residents, families, and other staff members required.
  • Qualities of maturity, diplomacy, and ability to work well with others required.
  • Ability to work with geriatric and chronically ill residents, as well as other professionals in a friendly and helpful manner necessary.
  • Ability to perform tasks to established standards of excellence required.
