Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse to join our team on a contract and per diem basis in Nassau County.

Responsibilities:
  1. Patient Assessment: Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physiologic health status, including gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, and neurological health.
  2. Communication and Documentation: Communicate and document patients' physiologic health status and plan of care, ensuring accurate and timely information is shared with the healthcare team.
  3. Psychosocial Assessment: Assess patients' psychosocial health status, including perception of medical/nursing care, coping mechanisms, knowledge level, and ability to comprehend.
  4. Patient Outcome Identification: Identify patient outcomes, develop criteria for measurement, and establish individualized patient goals.
  5. Plan of Care Development: Formulate the plan of care, establish priorities, and coordinate the cost-effective use of supplies, equipment, and medication.
  6. Implementation and Evaluation: Implement the plan of care, reassess patients as needed, and evaluate the effectiveness of care provided.
  7. Collaboration and Leadership: Collaborate with other care team members, provide direction, and ensure assignments are completed in a timely fashion.
  8. Decubitus Care: Perform preventive skin care measures, apply simple dressings, and maintain principles of aseptic technique.
  9. Medication Administration: Administer medications correctly and safely, ensuring accurate identification, dosage, and side effects.
  10. Patient and Family Education: Provide patients and families with explanations of their condition, communicate assessment data, and recognize health teaching opportunities.
  11. Related Duties: Perform related duties as required.
Qualifications:
  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of professional nursing experience in the related specialty.
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State.
  • BLS/ACLS/NRP/NCC-EFM/AWHONN required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
