OSP Construction Foreman Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Underground OSP Construction Foreman to oversee and perform the installation, maintenance, and repair of underground telecommunications cabling. The successful candidate will ensure adherence to safety, quality, and production standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cable Installation & Repair: Install and repair underground telecommunications cables in accordance with contract and process specifications.
  • Team Leadership & Coordination: Direct, coordinate, train, and inspect crew members, ensuring correct placement and repair of cables while monitoring the quality of work.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure all employees adhere to safety, quality, and production standards as set by company regulations and industry standards.
  • Equipment Operation: Drive and operate diesel or gasoline-powered equipment on and off job sites, maintaining compliance with operational standards.
  • Utility Locating & Mapping: Accurately locate underground cables and interpret utility maps and blueprints to identify cable types and sizes.
  • Site Restoration & General Labor: Perform flagging duties, restore worksites, and carry out general construction tasks, including the use of hand tools and lifting materials (up to 50 lbs).
  • Equipment Inspection & Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections of trucks and equipment to identify and report defects.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain daily production records, complete OSHA logs, and fulfill other reporting requirements as needed.

Requirements

  • Industry Experience: 3+ years of experience in underground OSP construction as a foreman or manager
  • Licenses: Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred.
  • Equipment Proficiency: Ability to safely operate utility trucks, heavy equipment, and hand tools.
  • Print & Map Reading: Skilled in reading blueprints and interpreting utility maps to identify underground utilities.
  • Physical Capability: Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs as needed, with or without assistance.
  • Work Flexibility: Willingness to work overtime, after hours, on weekends, during emergencies, and on-call shifts in all weather conditions.
  • Communication Skills: Strong ability to effectively communicate with team members, customers, and stakeholders.
  • Safety & Quality Focus: Demonstrated ability to follow directions, adhere to safety standards, and produce high-quality work.
