About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Infection Prevention Specialist to join our team at the Public Health Trust of Dade Co. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated professional to make a meaningful impact in preventing hospital-acquired infections (HAIs).

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will play a vital role in assisting with HAI prevention programs, serving as a resource for HAI surveillance reporting, participating in research projects, and helping develop and implement infection prevention policies and procedures.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Implement County, State, Federal, and regulatory agencies' requirements and guidelines, particularly those of the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, AHCA, and Occupational Safety Healthcare Administration (OSHA).
  • Maintain current knowledge, plan, and implement changes as necessary.
  • Coordinate/complete special projects as required by administration/medical staff.
  • Provide input regarding revisions to the Infection Prevention program and staff assignments, in conjunction with other supervisors, for the benefit of the total program.
  • Serve as administrative support for the Infection Prevention Committee.
  • Analyze and interpret data, identifying significant prevalence of nosocomial infections and communicable diseases or possible identifiable trends or clusters of infections.
  • Evaluate current practices, draw conclusions, make recommendations, and/or implement changes as appropriate, and monitor the status of resolutions for identified issues.
  • Perform all job duties of an Infection Preventionist with modified assignment.
  • Responsible for infection control studies/outbreak work-up/epidemiologic investigation as deemed necessary.
  • Maintain current knowledge of communicable diseases and their impact on patients, employees, visitors, and the public.
  • Maintain open channels of communication and effective working relationships with medical staff, nursing staff, ancillary department personnel, and peers.
  • Maintain accurate logs, statistics, and/or files as required regarding work activity, complete them in a timely manner, and enter data in computers as required.
  • Prepare and present information to appropriate committees/forums as requested.
  • Actively participate on committees and quality improvement teams related to infection control.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all information discovered in the review process.
  • Develop hospital policies and procedures relating to Infection Control practices and reviews existing policies and procedures.
  • Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the continuous Quality Improvement Plan to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Provide leadership through planning, organizing, coordinating, continually monitoring, evaluating, and improving the quality of services provided.
  • Clearly communicate the organizational mission and vision to all staff.
  • Demonstrate behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Expertise).

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will possess 1-3 years of related experience, a high school diploma is required; Bachelor's degree is preferred.

Salary Information: Estimated annual salary: $62,000 - $80,000 based on location and industry standards.

Working Conditions:

This role requires extended standing or walking, ability to carry objects weighing 21 to 50 pounds, and occasional outdoor exposures. Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when exposed to infectious/clinical hospital environment.
