Social Services Coordinator

The Winter Sanctuary Emergency Homeless Shelter seeks a highly skilled and compassionate Advocate & Volunteer Coordinator to join our team. This role is responsible for providing advocacy services, overseeing policy and programs related to guest health and safety, and coordinating volunteer opportunities.
Key Responsibilities- Advocate for Winter Sanctuary guests and oversee policy and programs related to their health and safety.
- Document guest information and services provided in HMIS.
- Provide on-call support during shelter season as needed.
- Recruit, train, and schedule volunteers to support shelter operations.
- Coordinate three group volunteer opportunities per year.
- Attend Board meetings, staff meetings, and educational/training sessions as required.
- Ensure shelter locations are stocked with essential supplies.
- Provide excellent customer service and respond to phone calls and messages in a timely manner.
- Assist with clerical tasks, including document organization and filing.
- Excellent written, verbal, and electronic communication skills.
- Strong planning and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Results-oriented and able to respond to crises in a calm and collected manner.
- Knowledge of confidentiality and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Willingness to step in and help when needed.
- Two-year degree or higher in Social Services or related field.
- Three to five years of experience in a non-profit organization.
- Volunteer management experience and demonstrated involvement in the local community.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse populations.
