Medical Technologist Job Description

HCA Florida Osceola Hospital is seeking a skilled Medical Technologist to join our team. As a Medical Technologist, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality laboratory testing and results to support patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform accurate and timely laboratory testing, analyzing proficiency testing samples according to instructions and completing tasks within the allowable time frame.
  • Assume responsibility of the department as appropriate in the absence of the supervisor, ensuring seamless operations and maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
  • Complete all required records/documentation pertaining to patient results, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
  • Demonstrate the ability to use good judgment and independent thinking in the correlation and interpretation of patient results, including performing delta checks and resolving any outstanding workload or communicating with staff relief.
  • Review pending logs (OSR) and result logs, resolving any outstanding workload or communicating with staff relief.
  • Perform quality control procedures per protocol and handle all problem and/or critical laboratory specimens/test results.
Requirements:
  • A 2 Year/Associate Degree is required; a 4 Year/Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology is preferred.
  • Less than 1 year of experience as a Medical Technologist is required.
  • A State of Florida Technologist License is required or the ability to obtain a license during the interview process.
  • Technologist License in one or more clinical specialty areas, including Blood bank, Serology, Chemistry, Hematology, and Microbiology, is highly preferred.
