Job Summary:

The Michaels Organization is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the physical integrity of our communities, providing a safe, secure, and comfortable living environment for residents, visitors, and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Maintenance Manager in maintaining the physical integrity of the community.
  • Perform basic and advanced HVAC repairs to residential heating and cooling systems.
  • Perform basic electrical repairs on items such as appliances, fixtures, switches, outlets, circuits, etc.
  • Perform light plumbing work, such as clearing stoppages, replacing fittings, etc.
  • Perform carpentry work, such as fitting doors, freeing windows, replacing and building shelves, sanding and refinishing floors, as well as exterior and interior painting.
  • Assist in custodial and grounds work, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, emptying trash, cleaning windows, etc., in common areas.
  • Respond to work orders and resident concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Complete accurate records regarding preventive maintenance, and work orders.
  • Report any maintenance or resident related concerns to manager and/or supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Periodically inspect all units, buildings, and common areas, performing repairs and janitorial assistance as needed.

Requirements:

  • HVAC certification preferred.
  • Preferred one-year experience or training in the following areas: carpentry, light plumbing work, light electrical work, painting, refurbishing, and cleaning, air-conditioning.
  • Proven knowledge and application of codes, laws, and regulations.
  • Must be able to pass background investigation and drug test screening.

Working Conditions:

The Maintenance Technician will work 40 hours per week, including evenings, weekends, and holidays if required for emergency, on-call, or scheduled shifts. Overtime hours may be required. The technician will be exposed to dust, dirt, solvents, paint, and other cleaning supplies. The technician will be required to use hand and power tools in a safe manner and wear eye protection when required for safe job performance.
