Job Description

The Senior Quality Assurance Specialist will be primarily responsible for meeting our quality requirements and goals as they relate to internal quality as well customer quality, problem resolution, documentation, and change approval. In addition, this role will also provide leadership for the continuous improvement of team activities in specific manufacturing departments. Coordinates activities with both Production, Manufacturing Engineering, and Quality Assurance.

Responsibilities:

  • IDentification of Improvement Opportunities
    • Identify areas for improvement related to quality and recommend solutions to identified problems. Implement approved changes using quality principles and document requirements on a timely basis.
  • Quality Initiatives Facilitation
    • Help facilitate continuous improvement and learning across functional areas through training and communication of quality initiatives.
  • Implementation of Inspection Software
    • Lead in implementation of software to record inspection data that allows for the elimination of paper record keeping.
  • Participation in Quality Audits
    • Participate in quality audits to help identify and resolve production and quality system deficiencies.
  • Reporting Issues to Management
    • Report to management any issues prior to missing an objective.
  • Maintenance of Quality Requirements
    • Ensure quality requirements are met and improved upon for internal manufacturing processes.
  • Audits and Inspections
    • Perform various internal quality and process audits to ensure conformance to IATF 16949 requirements.
    • Perform various internal layered process audits to continually improve internal quality and production.
  • Other Responsibilities
    • Inspect parts for approval prior to production.
    • Verify proto parts for critical dimensions prior to shipment.
    • Setup and maintain incoming inspections.
    • Lead the gauge calibration program and support technicians (internal and external) with calibration plant wide.
    • Perform In process inspections as needed.
    • Support lab equipment issues.
    • Review and maintain controlled copies of component drawings from Product Engineering.
    • Support suppliers with measurement technique.
    • Perform annual layout inspections as required by the customers.
  • Requirements
    • A minimum of an Associate's degree is required.
    • 5+ Years of Automotive Manufacturing Experience; Three (3) years Quality experience is highly desired.
    • Experience in an industrial and/or automotive environment.
    • Experience with CMM programming, proficient in measuring and test equipment, proficient in Microsoft Suite package, and proficient in blueprint reading and GD&T.
