Veterinary Surgical Internship

At VCA Animal Hospitals, we are committed to providing exceptional surgical training to the next generation of veterinary professionals. Our surgical internship program is designed to equip candidates with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in a surgical residency program.

Program Overview

  • Supported by 2 board-certified veterinary surgeons with diverse backgrounds and areas of interest
  • Exposure to a variety of surgical techniques and clinical approaches
  • Opportunity to work with a well-trained and compassionate nursing team, assistants, and advanced imaging technicians

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in surgical planning, approaches, and closures
  • Develop strong surgical skills and knowledge
  • Participate in didactic rounds, including journal club and case rounds

Requirements

  • Completed a 1-year rotating internship, 3 years of general practice, or a prior surgical internship
  • Intended for candidates planning to pursue a surgical residency
