Key Responsibilities- Patrol and Monitor Campus: Conduct regular patrols of the University campus by vehicle, foot, or bicycle to ensure the safety and security of our community.
- Respond to Service Calls: Respond promptly and effectively to service calls, including unlocking buildings, providing escorts, and providing information to the University community and visitors.
- Evaluate and Notify Maintenance: Evaluate maintenance concerns and notify building support staff as necessary to ensure the safety and security of our facilities.
- Provide Security at Events: Provide security services at University events and functions as requested.
- Provide Medical Care: Provide basic first aid and CPR as needed, and coordinate with medical responders when a higher level of care is required.
- Respond to Crisis Situations: Respond to students in crisis and assess situations to determine the best course of action.
- Investigate Safety Matters: Investigate campus safety matters, including property and person-to-person crimes.
- Update Activity Logs: Maintain accurate and up-to-date activity logs and complete written incident and investigative reports as needed.
- Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree preferred; prior experience in campus security, community-oriented security, or law enforcement roles strongly preferred.
- Certifications and Licenses: Ability to obtain and maintain First Aid certification, including AED and CPR; ability to maintain DPSST certification under the private security section.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of applicable laws, rules, and regulations; ability to interpret and enforce laws with tact, firmness, and diplomacy; excellent customer service, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills.
- 24-Hour Availability: Requires 24-hour availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Overtime and Flexible Hours: Overtime, irregular, and flexible hours may be required with little or no notice.
- Stressful Situations: Ability to work effectively in situations with high levels of stress, including emergencies, confined spaces, and inclement weather conditions.
