About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team as a Float Pool RN at Bryan Health. This dynamic role offers the opportunity to provide high-quality patient care while maintaining flexibility in a fast-paced environment.
Job Summary
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering exceptional nursing care to patients across various units, including Medical-Surgical Unit (MSU), Progressive Care Unit (PCU), and Intensive Care Unit (ICU). As a key member of our healthcare team, you will work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain high standards of professional practice and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor hemodynamic status of patients, accurately interpreting results to inform clinical decisions.
- Perform comprehensive head-to-toe assessments, reassessing patients as necessary to ensure timely intervention.
- Adequately assess and reassess pain, utilizing effective pain management techniques while educating patients and families on pain management strategies.
- Deliver all aspects of patient care in an environment that prioritizes patient safety and minimizes the risk of medical/healthcare errors.
- Formulate individualized plans of care, revising them as needed based on patient responses to treatment and evaluating overall effectiveness daily.
- Develop teaching plans tailored to identified learning needs, incorporating family involvement as appropriate and evaluating the effectiveness of education provided.
- Demonstrate critical thinking, decision-making skills, and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Utilize knowledge of cardiac monitoring, identify dysrhythmias, and apply ACLS protocol for appropriate treatment.
- Recognize opportunities to involve other disciplines in patient care.
- Maintain high productivity without compromising quality of care.
- Participate in ongoing guidance and educational programs to enhance professional development.
- Comply with legal aspects of nursing, including accurate and timely documentation according to established standards.
- Foster interdisciplinary collaboration by consulting other departments as necessary to address patient needs.
- Assist physicians with procedures as required and demonstrate adaptability under stressful situations.
- Maintain composure and professionalism, even in challenging circumstances.
- Contribute to a positive work environment by providing constructive feedback and supporting coworkers in minimizing errors.
- Treat patients and their families with dignity and respect, acknowledging and addressing psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs.
Educational Requirements and Experience
To be considered for this role, applicants must hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from an accredited institution and have at least two years of recent experience in an acute care setting. Current Nebraska Registered Nurse licensure, BLS certification, and ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS Stroke Scale certifications within six months of hire are also required.
