Position Overview:
As a Registered Respiratory Therapist specializing in pediatrics, you will be responsible for delivering comprehensive respiratory care to our young patients. Your role will involve the administration of both routine and advanced respiratory therapy procedures under the guidance of an attending physician or Chief Medical Officer.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer and monitor patients requiring ventilatory support or oxygen therapy.
  • Facilitate the training and orientation of new respiratory care personnel.
  • Collect and analyze blood samples for gas analysis as per physician orders.
  • Engage in quality assessment initiatives to enhance service delivery.
  • Deliver aerosolized medications using various delivery systems.
  • Implement bronchial hygiene techniques to support patient recovery.
  • Maintain clear communication with medical staff to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Document patient assessments and therapy outcomes accurately.
  • Stay updated on advancements in respiratory care practices and technologies.
  • Monitor and report any discrepancies in respiratory care protocols.
  • Perform hemodynamic and pulmonary monitoring as trained.
  • Conduct electrocardiography procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
  • Ensure all equipment is functioning properly and meets safety standards.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to safety protocols.
  • Participate in ongoing quality improvement efforts.
  • Assume charge responsibilities as needed, coordinating care across departments.
  • Assist in the transport of pediatric and neonatal patients when required.

Qualifications:

Experience:
A minimum of 3 to 5 years in a relevant clinical setting is typically required.

Education:
An Associate's degree is mandatory for new hires, with a Bachelor's degree preferred. Verification of educational qualifications is essential for specific roles.

Licensure:
A valid Florida State Respiratory License and Registered Respiratory Therapist certification are required. Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) are necessary for those working in pediatric settings.
