Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Nurse to join our team at CGH Medical Center. As a Nurse in our Behavioral Health department, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the growth and success of our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Professional Nursing Care: Utilize the nursing process to ensure optimal patient care under the direction of a registered nurse or physician.
  • Maintain Accurate Patient Records: Document patient medical and nursing care, including computer systems as necessary.
  • Administer Medications and IV Therapies: Control narcotics, medications, and IV therapies in accordance with the Licensed Practical Nurse, Nurse Practice Act.
  • Assist with Patient Education: Collaborate with the Registered Nurse or Physician to assess and plan patient/family education and discharge needs.
  • Respond to Emergency Situations: Recognize and respond to emergency situations appropriately.
  • Collaborate with Healthcare Team: Work with the Registered Nurse or Physician to problem-solve and initiate, delegate, and evaluate patient care team functions.
  • Contribute to a Positive Work Environment: Function as a role model and resource person for other patient services team members, promoting an environment conducive to professional practice.
Requirements
  • Education and Licensure: Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing education program required; must obtain RN degree within 5 years of position hire date. Current Illinois Licensed Practical Nurse Licensure required.
  • Experience and Knowledge: Previous experience working in an acute care setting is preferred. In-depth working knowledge of current concepts, principles, and procedures used in patient care within an acute care setting, preferred.
  • Certifications: Must obtain BLS within 30 days of hire and maintain throughout employment.
