Job Summary

We are seeking highly qualified candidates to join our pool of part-time lecturers for the Master of Biotechnology program at San Jose State University. The successful candidate will have a strong background in biotechnology and teaching experience at the college level.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach courses in biotechnology, including industry experience in entrepreneurship, drug discovery and development, cell and molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, microbiology, laboratory instruction, biotechnology finance, regulatory affairs, clinical trials, project management, or manufacturing.
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans and assessments to promote student learning and success.
  • Provide individualized support and guidance to students, including those from diverse backgrounds and with varying levels of academic preparation.
  • Stay current with developments in the field of biotechnology and incorporate relevant research and industry trends into course materials.
Requirements
  • Master's degree or higher in biology, biotechnology, engineering, business, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of teaching experience at the college level, with a focus on biotechnology or a related field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to student-centered learning and success.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Industry experience in biotechnology, including entrepreneurship, drug discovery and development, or manufacturing.
  • Experience with curriculum development and implementation, including the use of technology to enhance student learning.
  • Strong understanding of the needs of students from diverse backgrounds and the ability to develop inclusive course materials and teaching strategies.
