Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Automotive Technician to join our team at UnitedWeHire. As an Automotive Technician, you will be responsible for performing maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a variety of vehicles, ensuring that all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance services such as oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections, and fluid level checks.
  • Inspect vehicles to identify mechanical and electrical issues and provide appropriate service recommendations.
  • Diagnose and repair vehicle components, including engines, transmissions, suspensions, braking systems, and heating/cooling systems.
  • Replace worn parts such as brake pads, wheel bearings, belts, and hoses.
  • Conduct engine tune-ups and repairs as needed.
  • Use computerized diagnostic tools and equipment to identify issues with vehicle systems, including electrical, fuel, and emission systems.
  • Interpret diagnostic results to accurately repair or replace malfunctioning parts.
  • Test drive vehicles to identify issues and ensure repairs are effective.
  • Perform safety and emissions inspections as required by state laws.
  • Communicate with customers to explain issues found during inspections and provide clear, cost-effective repair recommendations.
  • Prepare estimates for repair work and advise customers on the best course of action.
  • Maintain detailed records of services performed, parts used, and time spent on each job.
  • Update vehicle history logs in the shop's computer system.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and tools.
  • Dispose of hazardous materials according to local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Stay current with automotive technology, repair techniques, and industry standards.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. Completion of an automotive technology program or technical school is preferred.
  • Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification is preferred. State inspection and emissions licenses may be required.
  • 1-3 years of experience as an automotive technician or in a related field.
  • Proficient in using diagnostic equipment and hand tools.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and electrical problems efficiently.
  • Must be able to lift heavy equipment, stand for long periods, and work in various postures under vehicles or in cramped spaces.
