Job Summary

Denver Health is seeking a motivated Medical Assistant - Correctional Care to join our team. As a Medical Assistant, you will assist providers with various duties, including taking vital signs, preparing patients for examinations, and maintaining accurate medical records.

Responsibilities
  • Accurately and efficiently take vital signs and basic historical patient data.
  • Identify abnormal patient findings and communicate patient concerns or significant changes in patient's health status to provider or RN.
  • Assist provider in setting up for procedures, including aseptic and sterile techniques, and provide safe administration of medications and immunizations.
  • Prepare patients for examinations, assist with examinations, cast or splint applications, and minor procedures.
  • Assist in the coordination of clerical information necessary to provide patient care, including referrals, appointments, and test results.
  • Check in patients by escorting them from the reception area to the exam room and communicate information regarding any extended wait or delay in appointment time.
  • Document accurately and appropriately in patient medical records.
  • Report change in patient condition to appropriate healthcare provider in a timely manner.
  • Prepare exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments/supplies, and maintain a safe environment by practicing sound safety and infection control practices.
Requirements
  • No High School Diploma and/or No GED Graduate from an accredited program in Medical Office Assisting Required or No High School Diploma and/or No GED Accredited program of Licensed Practical Nursing with an active LPN license Required.
  • Less than 1 year Completion of a 160 hour Externship Required or less than 1 year 6 months direct patient care experience in an outpatient setting Required.
  • BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association Required.
